We had a meeting today with an interior designer who was highly recommended by a very trustworthy acquaintance.
The meeting was fantastic. We sat down at the kitchen table with the plans and she pointed out and fixed all of the things that the architect had not quite got right. They weren’t major structural changes, just tweaks, that made a good design even more functional.
All excited, we emailed the architect to tell him we’d added her to the team and wanted to get together to talk about incorporating her ideas into our final plan. He responded promptly to say that he would not, under any circumstances, work with a “decorator” at this point.
David refuses to fire another architect. I refuse, at this point, to drop this woman because the architect doesn’t want to work with her. The simple thing is to say, “Fine, you don’t have to ever set eyes on this woman, but here’s what you need to do to change the construction documents.” But it’s really not that simple.
As if this won’t be complicated and frustrating enough when there are god knows how many trades involved…
What ever happened to the client getting to decide what they wanted?
